Updating a Dataset's Refresh Schedule

This example demonstrates how to use the Power BI Update Snap to update a specific dataset's refresh schedule. This example assumes that you have configured and authorized a valid Power BI OAuth2 account (see Configure Microsoft Power BI Accounts).

Update a dataset refresh schedule pipeline overview

Download this pipeline.
  1. Identify the two inputs that updating a resource requires.
    • The resource's identifier, or entity ID.
    • The data to update — in this example, the refresh schedule.
  2. Configure the Power BI Read Snap to retrieve the target entity's details.

If you already know the entity ID, you can supply it along with the data to update and omit this Snap.

  3. Configure the JSON Generator Snap to output the new refresh schedule.

  4. Add the Join Snap to join the outputs of the Power BI Read and JSON Generator Snaps.

The Join Snap's output — the entity ID from the Power BI Read Snap and the updated refresh schedule from the JSON Generator Snap — is sent to the Mapper Snap.

  5. Configure the Mapper Snap to map the joined data to its corresponding fields in the dataset's schema.

  6. Connect the Power BI Update Snap to the Mapper Snap's output and configure it for your requirements.

  7. Run the pipeline.

The Power BI Update Snap updates the target dataset with the new refresh schedule.
