Zendesk as a source

Select Zendesk as a source when you create or edit a data pipeline.

Known limitations

  • For the incremental load type, during synchronization AutoSync updates one record even if nothing has changed. This behavior comes from the Zendesk API.
  • Zendesk objects that do not contain a last update column cannot be synchronized using the Incremental or SCD2 load types.

Supported Account types

In addition to creating credentials in AutoSync, environment admins can create a Zendesk Account using Classic Manager:

  1. In the left navigation pane, click AutoSync Manager
  2. To:
    • Create an account accessible for a particular user, click the user name.
    • To create an account to share, click the User Groups tab and click the group name.
  3. Select the Accounts and credentials tab.
  4. Click + to add an Account.
  5. For Endpoint name, select Zendesk.
  6. For Account Type, select Secured Headers Account
  7. In the Create Account dialog, enter the required settings.
  8. Click the Info tab.
  9. In the Tags field, add the tag autosync_zendesk.
Tip: Credentials created in AutoSync add the tag internally.

Connection configuration

Zendesk properties include the following:

  • Account Properties
    • Credential label: A unique, meaningful name such as Zendesk-Shared. If a configuration with the same name exists, AutoSync displays an Asset conflict error message.
    • Token: Zendesk administrators generate and provide the API Token from the Zendesk Admin Center. Tokens must be in the following format: (email)/token:(api_token).
    • Share: (Optional) Select a user group to share this configuration with. Org admins create user groups to share credentials. If you are a member of a user group, you can select it from the dropdown. You can also select the global shared folder, which shares the credentials with everyone in your Org.
  • Validate and Save: After saving and validating, AutoSync adds the configuration to the list of saved credentials.
  • Domain: The domain is the URL used to connect to Zendesk. For example, https://subdomain.zendesk.com.
  • Select tables to synchronize: Choose tables to synchronize. AutoSync populates the list from your Zendesk account.
