Plan Snaplex capacity

Use the SnapGPT Assistant to forecast future CPU and memory demand for your Snaplexes based on historical usage trends.

SnapGPT must be enabled for your environment. Contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) if SnapGPT is not available.

The Plan Snaplex capacity skill is available on the Insights page in Monitor. It analyzes historical CPU and memory usage across your selected Snaplexes and produces a forecast that includes expected growth rates and projected utilization trends. Use this information to plan infrastructure changes before your Snaplexes run low on headroom.

The wizard guides you through three steps: Action, Snaplexes, and Analysis.

  1. In Monitor, click Insights in the left navigation pane.
  2. Click the SnapGPT button in the Monitor header to open the SnapGPT Assistant panel.

    If this is the first time you are opening the SnapGPT Assistant in Monitor, the Welcome to SnapGPT for Observability! screen appears. Review the guidelines and click Understood, Let's Begin to continue.

    The panel then displays the How SnapGPT can help home screen. Under Actions available now, the Plan Snaplex capacity skill is shown with the description Project when Snaplexes will run low on headroom.

  3. Click Plan Snaplex capacity.
    The wizard opens at step 2, Snaplexes. All Snaplexes in your environment are selected by default.
  4. Select the Snaplexes to include in the forecast.

    The Snaplexes step shows:

    • A Select all and Deselect all control, with a counter showing how many Snaplexes are currently selected (for example, 2/2 selected).
    • A Search Snaplexes field to filter the list by name.
    • A checkbox list of Snaplexes, each showing the Snaplex name and active node count.

    The Run forecast button is inactive until at least one Snaplex is selected.

  5. Click Run forecast.
    The wizard advances to step 3, Analysis. The SnapGPT Assistant processes historical usage data and generates the forecast. A loading indicator is displayed while the analysis is in progress.
  6. Review the forecast results.

    The analysis displays the following information for each selected Snaplex:

    • Summary: An overview of the Snaplex's current resource state and projected capacity outlook.
    • Expected growth: Projected annual growth rates for CPU and memory based on historical trends.
    • CPU utilization: Current and projected CPU usage over time.
    • Memory utilization: Current and projected memory usage over time.

The SnapGPT Assistant produces a capacity forecast for each selected Snaplex, giving you visibility into projected resource demand so you can plan infrastructure changes ahead of time.
